What this website collects, what you send us, and the rights you have over your information.
Who we are
This website is published by UMBA TECHNOLOGIES, which trades as Umba.Africa. The company is registered in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (R.C.C.M CD/KNG/RCCM/26-A-03788) and in South Africa (Reg. No 2021 / 666769 / 07). What this website collects
We built this website to collect as little as possible.
- No cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. The site does not set cookies and does not load content from third-party services.
- Contact form. The form does not send anything to our servers. It opens your own email application with your message ready, and nothing reaches us until you choose to send that email.
- Storage on your device. Your browser remembers your language choice (English or French) and a short-lived marker used for the page-opening animation. Both stay on your device and are not sent to us.
- Server logs. Like any website, the servers that host this site may record technical details such as IP address, browser type and time of request, to keep the site secure and running.
Information you send us
When you email us, request a quote or apply for a role, we receive what you choose to send: typically your name, organisation, email address, your message and any documents you attach, such as a CV.
We use this information to reply to you, prepare quotes and proposals, deliver the services you ask for, and consider job applications.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share it only where it is needed to answer your request or deliver a service (for example with the provider that hosts our email), or where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was sent for, or for as long as the law requires.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, data-protection law gives you rights over your personal information. These laws include the Protection of Personal Information Act (South Africa), the Data Protection Act, 2019 (Kenya) and the Digital Code of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is wrong or out of date;
- delete your information, or stop using it;
To make a request, write to privacy@umba.africa. You also have the right to complain to the data-protection regulator in your country.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the personal information we hold against loss, misuse and unauthorised access.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will publish the new version on this page and update the date at the top.
